1. Read and Analyze the Outsiders (main idea, connections, inferences, literary devices, novel text form) by answering chapter questions and participating in literature circles
2. Find a media text on an issue in society, generate discussion questions and write a statement on its importance and the effectiveness of the questions created (research, questioning, evaluation, POV, main idea)
3. Read and analyze a popular media account of an issue in society
4. Write an essay on a theme found in the Outsiders
5. Write a compare and contrast essay of different views on an issue found in the media
6. Debate a social issue
7. Create a propaganda poster/PSA on a social issue
8. Write an analysis of the poster/PSA
